‘For every pat on my back’ – Star India batter Virat Kohli pens down an emotional post for his beloved coach

Virat Kohli is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in cricket history and has had a career that other players can only dream about. The star batter is presently playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2023 and is fifth in the Orange Cap race. He has scored 420 runs in 11 games, with an average of 42.00 and a strike rate of 133.75. His best score this season is 82*, and he has six half-centuries in the ongoing tournament.

Meanwhile, in a recent social media post Kohli paid his tribute to his childhood coach for all of his success. He also thanked him for helping to don Indian Jersey. Kholi wrote, “For some, sport will always come second so I feel it’s very important to celebrate those who believed in you from day one. I am forever grateful to Rajkumar sir who has not just been a coach to me, but also a mentor who has supported me throughout my journey. I was just a boy who dared to dream but it was your belief that helped me don the Indian jersey 15 years ago.”

“For every bit of advice, every batting lesson, every smack on my head, every pat on my back and for carrying my dream as your own, I want to thank you”, he further added. Notably, Kohli has a great bond with his childhood coach as he always meets him with a special gesture. In a recent IPL game, Kohli can be seen touching Rajkumar’s feet.

In the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023, after 55 games 10 out of ten teams is in the race for playoffs. RCB is currently placed in the bottom half of the table with 10 points in 11 games. Kohli and RCB skipper Faf du Plessis are constantly scoring runs for the team but bowling and middle order have let them down.

Faf is the leading run-getter in the tournament while Kohli is also in the race but their defeat against Mumbai Indians has forced them to win all of their remaining games to qualify for the playoffs. RCB is set to face Rajasthan Royals on May 14 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Both of the teams are in need to win all of their remaining games and it is a virtual eliminator for them.
