Former Pakistan captain set to shift in London – Reports
Former Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has departed from the country with his children and his wife to settle in the United Kingdom (UK). As per reports by local media, Sarfaraz was not sure about his future in the Pakistan team which led him to take this decision.
The recently ended 3-match test series against Australia has been dropped from the Pakistan test squad after the first Test defeat in Perth. In that match, he scored 3 runs in 1st innings and 4 runs in 2nd innings. He got a chance to play in the second warm-up game against Victoria XI but missed a chance to get in the next two Test matches. Mohammed Rizwan was given a chance to play XI instead of Sarfaraz. The series didn’t end well for Sarfaraz as well as Pakistan. Australia now sits on top of the table in World Test Champions with 61.11%. Whereas Pakistan’s position in the table has dropped to 6th with 36.66%.
Pakistan Team under Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy
Sarfaraz made his debut for Pakistan in 2007. Pakistan cricket team has won two trophies under Sarfaraz’s leadership. Pakistan has won the Champions Trophy 2017 against India which was a low-scoring match under his captaincy. Sarfaraz also led Pakistan to win the U-19 World Cup against India in 2006. Since then, Sarfaraz has played 117 ODIs and scored 2315 runs. In 61 T20 he has smashed 818 runs and in 54 Test till now he has scored 3031 runs.
Under Sarfaraz’s leadership, Pakistan has won 4 test matches and drawn 8 Test matches. In ODIs, he has won 28 games. Whereas in T20 he won 29 games. After 2019 Sarfaraz lost his place in each format. Later Babar Azam took over captaincy of the Pakistan Team.
Sarfaraz is set to join the UK’s County Championship. As he experienced playing Yorkshire in county cricket As per reports, he still wants to play for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Sarfaraz is known for his contributions towards the Pakistan team.
