India vs New Zealand 2023
‘Gambhir kyu panoti lagata hai’ – Fans disheartened as Virat Kohli departs early in 3rd ODI against New Zealand
After defeating New Zealand in the first two ODIs, India faced off with Kiwis in the third and final game of the series at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. New Zealand skipper Tom Latham decided to bowl first after winning the toss. New Zealand made one change, while India made two on their side. On one side, the hosts replaced Mohammed Siraj and Mohammad Shami with Umran Malik and Yuzvendra Chahal, respectively. And the Kiwis replaced Henry Shipley by bringing in Jacob Duffy.
Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill amassed an incredible 212 runs in just 26.1 overs before the Men in Blue captain was bowled cleanly by New Zealand spinner Michael Bracewell. After a prolonged break of three years and six months, the 35-year-old got his 30th ODI century. On January 19, 2022, he made his last century against Australia. He had a strike rate of over 118 and scored 101 runs off 88 balls, including nine fours and six sixes on Tuesday.
New Zealand started their innings on high
After Rohit’s dismissal, former Indian skipper came into crease but was dismissed quickly by the Kiwis pacer Duffy. He scored just 36 runs off 27 balls with three fours and and one six at a strike rate of above 133.
Before returning to the pavilion after being dismissed by Blair Tickner, Gill also made an important 112 runs from 78 balls, which included 13 fours and five sixes and a strike rate of above 143.
India loses nine wickets to end their innings at 385 runs, and they set the visitors a lofty 386-run goal to reach. Although it is challenging, chasing is not impossible. Hardik Pandya, a renowned all-rounder for India, scored 54 runs in a flash from 38 miscues with a strike rate of three fours and three sixes per ball.
Duffy and Tickner, who each took three wickets, were New Zealand’s most effective bowlers. In his 10-over spell, Duffy gave up 100 runs, while Tickner gave up 76 runs. One of the wickets taken by Bracewell was the first in the process of the wickets falling.
After the completion of 20 overs, New Zealand is 134 runs with the loss of two wickets. Opener Devon Conway is playing on 72 runs from 61 balls at a strike rate of 118 runs which includes seven fours and three sixes and his batting partner Darl Mitchell is playing on 13 runs in 17 balls which includes one four.
