‘Ghee Shakar Se Muh Bhar De Bhai Ka’ – Fans react as Zimbabwe skipper Craig Ervine wishes Virat Kohli to be top-scorer of ODI World Cup 2023

Zimbabwe’s cricket team is out of the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 as they failed to seal the top two spots during Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. Notably, the Zimbabwe cricket team performed well in the initial rounds but failed to continue that solid form during the Super Sixes round. In addition, the host team won five straight games but lost against Sri Lanka and Scotland, which ruled them out of the upcoming mega tournament that is all set to take place in India.

Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, Zimbabwe skipper Craig Ervine is very excited to see how the Rohit Sharma-led side performs during the 50-over world cup as the hosts this time. In addition, the great middle order batter believes that there is always extra pressure being the host, as he experienced the same while being the skipper of the hosts in Cricket World Cup qualifiers.

I would like to see Virat Kohli scoring a lot of runs in the World Cup: Craig Ervine

Moreover, the left-handed batter also says that the Men in Blue will play their best cricket in front of their home crowd. Furthermore, the 37-year-old cricketer wants to see India star batter Virat Kohli score a lot of runs in the mega tournament that is slated to take place in October and November this year.

“I’m really excited to see how India will play in the World Cup. Obviously, we played our qualifiers here in Zimbabwe so we know the extra pressures that there might be of playing at home and the expectations of playing at home. But I also know that India will play some of their best cricket at home. So, I think it’s going to be an exciting spectacle and I would like to see Virat Kohli scoring a lot of runs in the World Cup,” Zimbabwe skipper Craig Ervine said.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s men are all set to play in the Asia Cup ODI 2023 in Sri Lanka beginning on August 30 before facing Australia on October 8 to commence their World Cup quest.
