‘Got a bit of extra time before the World Cup’ – Glenn Maxwell on his return from injury

The five-time World Champions, Australia, are gearing up to claim their sixth title in the upcoming ODI World Cup, which is all set to commence in the host country, India. Notably, Pat Cummins side will be locking horns against the Men in Blue on October 8 in Chennai to commence their journey for the marquee event. The Australia team is currently playing a five-match ODI series against South Africa before taking on India in a three-match ODI series.

Meanwhile, Australia’s star batter, Glenn Maxwell, is hopeful to make his return during the India tour. The great all-rounder sustained an ankle injury in South Africa ahead of the start of the T20I series. Notably, the 34-year-old will be a crucial player for his side during the ODI World Cup owing to his playing experience on Indian soil. The RCB batter has played a tremendous role during the IPL 2023 while batting at number 3.

They know they’ve got a bit of extra time before the World Cup: Glenn Maxwell

The stylish right-handed batter wishes to feature in the upcoming series against India but isn’t taking any pressure now. In addition, the 34-year-old batter has lauded staff members for helping him well to make his comeback in the squad. Glenn Maxwell reveals that management is not putting any extra pressure on him as there is much time ahead of the ODI World Cup.

“I still want to play some part of that India series. But I’m not feeling any pressure on it. The selectors and the staff have been brilliant with me as well. They don’t want to put too much pressure on me to sort of set that date because they know they’ve got a bit of extra time before the World Cup. So instead of rushing it and probably putting myself a week or two behind, being able to give myself extra time and make sure we get through the whole tournament,” Glenn Maxwell said being quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
