‘Green jersey se ek aur haar ke liye prepared rehna’ – Fans react as RCB is set to don the green Jersey for game against Rajasthan Royals

Players for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will wear green jerseys for their IPL 2023 match at home against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 23. In 2011, as part of their “Go Green” campaign to promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness of ecological issues, RCB launched the green jersey. Since then, they’ve participated in one game while sporting green jerseys each season. 

Over the years, RCB’s green uniform has been warmly accepted by supporters, and it has won recognition for its creative strategy for leveraging the sport of cricket to spread awareness of environmental issues. The team has made most of its opportunity to wear the green jersey during games to increase awareness of environmental protection, sustainability, and conservation.

How did the Bangalore franchise announce the initiative for this season?

Royal Challengers Bangalore posted on their social media along with the following caption. The post said, “Green Game will be played on the 23rd of April, against Rajasthan Royals at the Chinnaswamy stadium. Our special green jerseys are made of 100% recycled material and you can now get your hands on them, on the RCB Website and App. #PlayBold #ನಮ್ #IPL2023 #GoGreen”

In the 12 IPL games so far played by Royal Challengers Bangalore wearing green uniforms, they have a dismal track record in those games, with only three victories while losing eight times. When Bangalore last wore the green jersey in the IPL 2018, the Rajasthan Royals defeated Bangalore by 19 runs.

Before the game against Rajasthan Royals on April 23rd, they have three crucial games within a matter of a few days. They are set to encounter their rivals from Chennai, Delhi and Punjab before they meet Rajasthan Royals at M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore. These four games can be crucial to the season of the Royal Challengers Bangalore as they are winless after facing defeat in the last two games and would be looking to get back on track in their upcoming games.
