Almost after three years, Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore in front of the M. Chinnaswamy crowd on Sunday against Rajasthan Royals. Faf du Plessis, the regular RCB captain who is recovering from an abdominal injury, was once more replaced by Kohli. Leading RCB at home in the 32nd match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Kohli made sure they returned with a victory.
Meanwhile, Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh posted a video on his official YouTube channel the day after the game sharing his thoughts on it. Praising Kohli’s captaincy skills cricketer turned politician Harbhajan said that Kohli should continue to lead RCB. “Virat Kohli should continue captaining RCB for the rest of the season. RCB doing well under him,” Harbhajan said in his YouTube video.
In the 230 games that he has played in the IPL so far, Kohli has led Royal Challengers Bangalore in 142 games. Interestingly, the team has a winning percentage of 48.59% and has won 69 games under the leadership of the former India skipper. At the end of the 2021 season, he resigned as the captain of RCB citing workload issues.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed by both the franchise and Kohli that he is going to lead RCB in the upcoming games. While playing against Punjab Kings in Mohali, Kohli took over the captaincy and beat the host by 24 runs. After losing a close game to MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk, RCB now has four victories in the ongoing tournament.
Bengaluru advanced to fifth in the standings, ahead of Mumbai Indians, and KKR, thanks to the victory over RR. With five wins and two losses in seven games as of April 24, CSK is in the first place, followed by Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, and Rajasthan Royals. In terms of points, RCB is tied with four other teams: RR, LSG, GT, and PBKS with 8 points.
