‘Hasan Ali was selected just because he is a good friend of Babar Azam’ – Former Pakistan Cricketer’s major accusations
Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has launched a stinging attack on the Pakistan team’s team selection for the final Test against New Zealand. The spinner criticised pacer Hasan Ali’s inclusion in the team in place of Mohammad Wasim Jr., claiming that Ali was only chosen because he was a friend of Babar Azam.
“Hasan Ali did not deserve to be a part of the playing XI. Mohammad Wasim Jr was dropped for no reason. Hasan Ali was selected just because he is a good friend of Babar Azam. Furthermore, they did not add an extra spinner. Who are the people who give them approval for such decisions?” Kaneria said on his YouTube channel.
On Day One of the second Test match, Hasan Ali went wicketless as New Zealand scored 309 runs for the loss of six wickets. Pakistan began day two by wreaking havoc on New Zealand’s lower order, but the visitors fought valiantly and the tail formed crucial partnerships. In the first innings, New Zealand scored 449 runs.
Pakistan were too scared to make a turning track: Danish Kaneria
Pakistan has struggled at home in Tests, losing to England and Australia in recent times. The pitches have been lifeless, with no assistance for spinners or pacers. Kaneria claims that this is due to the incompetence of Pakistan’s batters, who lack the ability to play spin.
“Pakistan were too scared to make a turning track, as New Zealand have three spinners on their side. These people say that our batters play spin really well. But the truth is that we do not play any type of bowler well. In fact, we don’t play cricket well. We have the wrong mindset,” Kaneria said.
After dismissing the Black Caps in the first innings, Pakistan had a shaky start with the bat losing two wickets early on. Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood were dismissed early on, and Babar Azam followed soon. At the end of day two, Pakistan managed a score of 154/3 in 47 overs.
