‘He could be next Virat or Babar’ – Former Pakistan captain claims star English batter could be next batting sensation
Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif made a big prediction about 23-year-old star English batter Harry Brook. Talking about the young English batter, Latif compared him with modern-day greats like Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. Earlier on his first tour of Pakistan, Brook was compared with the greats of the game by English Test captain Ben Stokes.
Stokes compared Brook with former India captain Virat Kohli when he smashed three consecutive centuries against Pakistan in the Test series. Speaking on his YouTube channel ‘Caught Behind’, Rashid Latif said that Brook is currently one of the best players in the world.
“If you look at Brook’s performance then in the last couple of innings he was just outstanding,” said Latif. “He just doesn’t stop. He also became one of the most expensive overseas players in the Indian T20 League auction. Brook is now one of the best players in the world at the moment, among the current crop of players. He could be the next Babar Azam or Virat Kohli.”
Brook set to rock in Indian T20 League
Harry Brook, in the very first year of his international career, smashed some great knocks against quality bowling line-ups of Pakistan and South Africa. He was the Player of the Series in both the Test and T20I series during the recent England tour of Pakistan. He also played a vital 80-run knock against Proteas in the second ODI in Bloemfontein.
Last year was phenomenal for the young English gun as he scored 480 runs in four Test matches with an average of 80. He also scored 3 centuries and 1 half century during the period. Brook is set to make his mark in the upcoming season of the Indian T20 league.
In a recently conducted auction of the Indian T20 league, Brook bagged a million-dollar deal from the Hyderabad franchise. The team bought him for a whopping amount of INR 13.25 crores (£1.49 million). Although his English teammate Sam Curran was purchased by the Punjab franchise for a sum of INR 18.5 crores, making him the most valuable player in the history of the tournament.
