‘He will be hungry, as he has not got a central contract’ – Aakash Chopra opines on Ishan Kishan ahead of IPL 2024
Amidst the Ishan Kishan row with the Indian Cricket Board, former player Aakash Chopra expects the keeper-batter to perform well in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). As per the former India player, Ishan should look forward to performing well in the IPL to prove his worth. He is an amazing player when it comes to batting in the T20s and has the potential to convert small scores into impactful innings. While talking on his YouTube channel, Chopra chose Rohit-Ishan as the third-best opener for the IPL 2024.
Aakash said, “There is nothing to prove per se, but, then, there is a lot to prove. I feel he will hit a lot as he is not the captain. Ishan Kishan will be hungry, as he has not got a central contract. This is the only thing he is playing. What else is he playing?”
According to Chopra’s analysis, since Rohit isn’t the captain anymore, he might have a good season as a player. Up until now, he hasn’t scored 600+ runs in any season of the IPL, but this year he might. When it comes to Ishan, due to the differences with the Indian Cricket Board, he might look forward to scoring more.
‘Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan could be another consistent kind of opening pair’ – Aakash Chopra on Punjab Kings openers
Aakash Chopra, India’s former batter, thinks Shikhar Dhawan and Johnny Bairstow will be the opening pairs for Punjab Kings who might perform well in the IPL. Dhawan, who had scored 373 runs in 11 innings at an average of 41.44 and a strike rate of 142.91, was PBKS’ top run-scorer last year.
“Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan could be another consistent kind of opening pair. Both are seasoned players. You expect a 400 to 450-run season from Shikhar Dhawan. As he is not playing cricket, this is all that he is going to play.”
