‘Hitman for a reason’ – Fans react as Rohit Sharma completes 10,000 ODI runs during the Asia Cup 2023

India’s skipper Rohit Sharma achieved a great landmark against Sri Lanka during their second match of the Super Fours of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. India’s stalwart Rohit Sharma completed 10,000 runs in his ODI career and became the sixth Indian batter to do so, while overall he became the 15th batsman to achieve this milestone in the One-Day International format.

Meanwhile, Team India is in action as they have locked horns against the Sri Lankan side in just less than 24 hours after defeating Babar Azam and Co. on September 11 in their opening game of the Super Fours. Notably, the Men in Blue will be looking to win the ongoing match against Sri Lanka to book their berth in the finals. Earlier, it was skipper Rohit Sharma who won the toss and invited Dasun Shanaka’s side to field first at Colombo.

The 36-year-old skipper has stated that they are all set to face the challenge of playing against Sri Lanka in just less than 24 hours. In addition, the stylish right-handed batter has opted to go with spinner Axar Patel in the ongoing game over the great right-arm pacer Shardul Thakur. The rest team is the same.

“We are going to have a bat. That’s the challenge you come across as a sportsman, different challenges thrown at you as a player and as a team. We ensured everyone got into the pool after the game last night. They are fresh as we had five days off before these two games. Last game was good for us, we batted well and then came out to defend the total with some good bowling. But again this is a new day and a fresh game. The pitch looks different, looks a lot drier and there’s no grass and hence we bring in Axar for Shardul. It might assist the spinners but we also have three quality pacers,” Rohit Sharma said at the toss when asked by Ravi Shastri.
