‘I don’t see him in the World Cup’ – Former India opener’s shocking remarks on Sanju Samson’s spot in the ODI World Cup 2023

Indian star batter Sanju Samson had a great IPL 2022 as the Rajasthan Royals batter led his side to the final. Notably, following that, the wicket-keeper batter wasn’t looking in great form this year. In addition, the right-handed batter had the opportunity to score massive runs during the second and third ODIs against the West Indies, but the star batter missed the opportunity to make his mark in the 50-over format.

Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer turned analyst Aakash Chopra feels that Sanju Samson will not make his way in the upcoming ODI World Cup.

In addition, the cricket commentator affirms that if KL Rahul becomes available, the 28-year-old batter will not get the chance to feature in the upcoming two big major tournaments as the RR skipper failed to impress the selectors in the 50-over format. Moreover, the former Indian opener feels that the right-handed batter can perform well in the shortest format of the game and can make his way into the next T20 World Cup.

“At this point in time, if KL Rahul becomes available, I don’t see him [Samson] in the World Cup team. I don’t think he will be seen in the Asia Cup team as well. Samson is only 28 years old. He does have time on his side. It’s not the end of the world. You have the T20 World Cup next year. Plenty of cricket will be played after that too,”  Chopra said on his YouTube channel, Cricket Ki Chaupal.

Moreover, the 45-year-old analyst urged the Kerala-born batter to utilize the opportunities; otherwise, the young batters with the likes of Ishan Kishan and Jitesh Sharma will make their way over him.

“Sanju Samson – don’t waste your chance. If you waste your chance, you will remember it later. It is not that if Ishan Kishan goes from the top, Sanju cannot go from below. Both can go and Jitesh Sharma can come,” he added further.

Meanwhile, the great batter will be seen in action during the fourth T20I match against the West Indies.
