‘I think one day Bangalore will win this ITL’ – Former England skipper backs Bangalore after their power packed performance against Mumbai

In their season opener against Mumbai, Bangalore thrashed five times champions by eight wickets to get a flying start in the 16th season of the Indian T20 League. Star batter Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis shined in Bangalore’s victory as they hammered majestic half-centuries. While chasing 172, the opening pair of Kohli and du Plessis added 148 runs and clinched the game away from Mumbai.

However, after their power-packed performance former England captain, Michael Vaughan backed Bangalore to win the Indian T20 League 2023. According to Vaughan Bangalore has the experience to clinch the title and they are surely going to finish in the top four.

Speaking with a broadcaster Vaughan said, “I think Bangalore, one day, will win this IPL. They will do it, and they have got enough in the tank in terms of experience. I think Reece Topley is going to be a big miss. That looks like a bad injury with that shoulder.” He further went on to praise former India skipper Virat Kohli for his amazing batting performance. He said, “Virat Kohli in full flow is the best player in the world to watch”.

“I am sure they are going to top four”- Michael Vaughan

Vaughan further predicted that Bangalore is surely going to the playoffs as they have everything to do so. He further said, “But they’ve certainly got the experience and the players. But as we know from history, that doesn’t take you to win a trophy, but surely now they’re back at home, and that ground is such a great ground for them, and they know how to play there. I’m sure they’re going to get to that top four, and then who knows what will happen at the end.”

Notably, in the first game against Mumbai, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis added 148 runs for the first wicket. Kohli, in his innings, hammered unbeaten 82 runs off 49 balls, while Du Plessis scored 73 runs off 43 balls before getting dismissed by Arshad Khan.
