‘I want to emphasize the importance of…’ – Shoaib Malik clarifies rumours circulating around his BPL contract termination

Shoaib Malik’s journey with the Fortune Barishal comes to an end as the rumours regarding match-fixing are circulating all over the internet. Fortune Barishal has informed that Malik is no longer a part of their team and they have terminated the contract as well. Malik recently completed 13,000 T20 runs in one of the BPL matches joining Chris Gayle in the list. Malik released an official statement where he did mention his contract dismissal after discussing it with Tamim Iqbal.

Malik’s official statement says, “I would like to address and dismiss the recent rumours circulating about my playing position with Fortune Barishal. I had a thorough discussion with our captain, Tamim Iqbal, and we mutually planned the way forward. I had to leave Bangladesh for a pre-committed media engagement in Dubai. I want to emphasize the importance of exercising caution when it comes to rumours, especially those circulating recently.”

The owner of Fortune Barishal, Mizanur Rahman on Friday released his statement refuting allegations of match-fixing against Shoaib Malik after it was reported that his contract was terminated due to match-fixing.

Malik has been in the news for two different reasons now. One is his marriage with Sana Javed and the match-fixing allegations. Recently, Sania Mirza clarified the divorce rumours that were surfacing over the internet. She also sent good wishes to him for his marriage.
