‘I want to let my bat do the talking’- Double Centurion Ishan Kishan on his India selection status
Ishan Kishan has written his name in the history books after hitting the fastest double-century in International cricket. The southpaw brought out a double hundred in just 126 balls breaking the record of Chris Gayle.
As a result of his sensational double hundred against Bangladesh, Kishan has also laid claim to the opening slot for Team India. As Shikhar Dhawan continues to blow up his chances and Rohit Sharma continues to be injured, Kishan could be in line for a regular ODI opening spot.
When asked about the same in the post-match conference, Kishan had an interesting answer. He said, “I don’t know, I don’t think these things. All I can do is perform when I get a chance. I don’t want to talk. I want to let my bat do the talking.”
He however later cheekily added, “Ab 200 kiya hai to kya pata (now that I have scored a double hundred, so who knows).” The whole press conference burst into laughter as soon as the young batter made this cheeky comment.
Kishan was also asked about his batting position in the team to which he replied, “Batting position, I think, other players also come through having batted at different positions. So being a young player, I can’t complain and demand that you must bat me at this particular position.”
I am overwhelmed by the love- Kishan
Kishan took to Twitter to share his happiness upon scoring a double ton. With three pictures of himself, he wrote, “I cannot put into words what I’m feeling right now but I’ll try. I’m overwhelmed by the love, the messages, the wishes. This is an innings that will stay in my heart forever, a day that I won’t forget, and these moments that I’ll always carry with me. Thank you for everything.”
