Rohit Sharma welcomes Ishan Kishan to the 200 club with a cheeky Instagram post

Ishan Kishan brought up a sensational double century in the dead rubber game against Bangladesh on Saturday. The southpaw, who came in as a replacement for injured Rohit Sharma grabbed the opportunity with both hands. With this double hundred, the 24-year-old has laid his claim to the opening slot in ODI for Team India with this knock.

In just 126 deliveries, Kishan was able to get past the magical 200 mark and write his name among the greatest ODI batters of all time. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Chris Gayle and Martin Guptill have already played a 200+ knock in ODIs.

Rohit Sharma who has 3 double centuries in ODI along with having the highest individual score (264) was the quickest to congratulate Kishan on social media. On Sunday morning, the Indian captain took to his official Instagram account and wrote a congratulatory post for the young batter.

The Indian skipper who still remains untouched at the helm with his 264, welcomed Kishan into the club by saying, “Ye club ka maza alag hai Ishan Kishan.” Kishan who must be brimming with happiness after this knock replied, “Maza hi maza hai.”

Could’ve score 300 also- Ishan Kishan

The swashbuckling batter also said that he could’ve made 300 had he not gotten out. “Still feel when I got out – 15 overs were left. Could’ve scored 300 also,” he said at the end of India’s innings. Kishan also spoke of Virat Kohli’s influence on his double-century knock.

“I was batting with Virat bhai, and he was spot on with which bowlers I needed to select [to target].I was on 95 and wanted to bring up the hundred with a six but he calmed me down, saying it was my first hundred, get it in singles as it’s your first,” he said.
