‘India have announced their arrival at the world cup’ – Shoaib Akhtar’s bold verdict after India’s 10-wicket win against Sri Lanka in Asia Cup 2023 final
Team India emerged as the winner of the Asia Cup 2023 as they defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets on September 17 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. carried great momentum in the Asia Cup, but they suffered a narrow defeat against Bangladesh ahead of the final. However, the Men in Blue made a strong comeback and won the marquee event. Following the win, a plethora of experts and former cricketers praised the team.
Speaking on the same subject, former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar heaped praise on India’s skipper Rohit Sharma for his tactical captaincy skills. The former fast bowler says India’s skipper Rohit Sharma is making a wise move compared to last year when he looked like a lost person. In addition, the legendary cricketer feels it was a great decision by the 36-year-old cricketer to include wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav at the right time in the squad.
“For the last one-and-half to two years, he was a bit lost (Ghuma hua tey), but now he is present and doing great man-management. He is making good decisions. He has got Kuldeep Yadav into the team at the right time,” Shoaib Akhtar said on his YouTube channel.

Moreover, the former right-arm pacer feels Rohit Sharma and Co. are the most dangerous side of the upcoming ODI World Cup owing to their magnificent display in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023. The 48-year-old cricketer believes Team India has the best pace and spin bowling attack. In addition, the Rawalpindi Express also shares some thoughts he had after the India vs. Pakistan clash in the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2023.
“India have announced their arrival at the World Cup. They can be the most dangerous side in the World Cup. India have a formidable team – good pace and spin attack. They have ticked all the boxes. India, hats off to you, you have done a wonderful job. It seemed they would be underdogs after the first game (against Pakistan) but they have done really well,” he added further.
