‘Indian side is destroyed…’ – Former Pakistan cricketer’s huge remark for Indian team ahead of Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023
Rohit Sharma and Co. are gearing up to perform well in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, the Men in Blue have yet to find a suitable squad for the upcoming mega tournament owing to some injuries to crucial players. In addition, India’s star pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna have returned to the squad, whereas Indian batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer remain doubtful to play in the upcoming mega tournament.
I feel instead of developing the Indian side it is being destroyed: Sarfaraz Nawaz
Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, former Pakistani cricketer Sarfaraz Nawaz called the Indian side a “destroyed team”. In addition, the former Pakistan bowler said that the Babar Azam-led side is looking much more stable and settled as compared to the Men in Blue for the Asia Cup and World Cup. Moreover, the great politician pointed out some drawbacks on the Indian side. Furthermore, the right-arm pacer highlighted that Indian captains are changing, there is experimentation with batters, and there are no proper combinations ahead of the mega tournaments.
“Pakistan has a much more settled and stable outfit for the Asia Cup and World Cup when compared to India. The Indians have still not been able to work out their final combination for these major events. Captains are changing, many new players are being tried out, there are no proper combinations. I feel instead of developing the Indian side it is being destroyed,” Nawaz told the media in Lahore on Friday
In addition, the 74-year-old feels that the Men in Green are a more settled team and can really perform well in the upcoming mega contest. Moreover, the Lahore-born cricketer believes that selectors have picked up a balanced squad for Babar Azam’s side.
“I am confident that Pakistan can do really well in both these events because we have a settled side and Babar Azam is leading them well. I think the selection committee has also picked a very balanced squad for the series against Afghanistan and the Asia Cup.”
