IPL set to host it’s 1000th game as the league plans special celebrations for historic match

When the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) take on the inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, cricket fans, and particularly Indian Premier League (IPL) fans, are in for a treat. What makes Sunday’s contest so unique is the fact that the MI and RR match will mark the 1000th game of the lucrative IPL competition.

The Indian Cricket Board has organised various events to honour the occasion of the 1000th IPL game, which also happens to be the MI vs. RR match. Since there is music and dancing in addition to the game of cricket during an IPL match, the atmosphere in the stadium is festive. And now there will be more jubilation and enjoyment during the 1000th IPL game.

Special banners and flags to be carried out

For the 1000th IPL game, Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium has already been decorated and the fans can’t wait to enter the stadium and witness the historic event unfold. The Indian Cricket Board always strives to guarantee that spectators enjoy themselves while witnessing the cricket game. The two team captains, Mumbai Indians and Indian Team captain Rohit Sharma as well as Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, will receive unique gifts during a brief ceremony.

Additionally, volunteers will carry banners along with special flags throughout the stadium to commemorate the occasion. A showcase of video clips from previous IPL seasons will be available. The singing of the national anthem will occur after the event marking the 1000th IPL game.

The ceremony and the celebrations will begin with former India team spinner, captain and head coach-turned-commentator Ravi Shastri addressing the gathering, a source within the Indian Cricket Board has revealed some details regarding the event. A video featuring a few of the players from the different franchises discussing the Indian Premier League and its legacy will be broadcasted. The two captains from today’s game, Sanju Samson and Rajasthan Royals will then get a souvenir from the Indian Cricket Board’s office-bearers.
