‘Jail se statement dena allowed hai kyaa??’ – Fans react as Former Pakistan skipper praise Babar Azam and expects him to surpass Virat Kohli

Amid the tussle between Indian Cricket Board and Pakistan Cricket Board, Pakistan is set to visit India for the 50-over World Cup in October-November this year. Ahead of the prestigious tournament, former Pakistan skipper and Prime Minister Imran Khan praised Pakistan captain Babar Azam. Khan in his recent interview said that Babar can surpass Virat Kohli in his career.

Speaking with a local journalist, Imran also said that to surpass Kohli Babar needs to continue his dominance with the bat. He said, “I haven’t recently seen cricket, but I believe that Virat Kohli and Babar Azam belong to the same class. Babar Azam can easily surpass Virat Kohli. He is that good, from what I have seen.”

Notably, in the recently concluded New Zealand series Babar Azam smashed a brilliant century and two half-centuries to score 276 runs in five-match series. Apart from that, the 28-year-old batter also hammered unbeaten 101 runs in the T20I series. Pakistan won the ODI series by 4-1 while failing to clinch the T20I series.

Can Babar Azam surpass Virat Kohli?

If we go through the statistics India batting legend Virat Kohli is far ahead of the Pakistan skipper. Kohli in his international career has scored 25,322 runs in 497 games including 75 centuries. On the other hand, Babar has scored 12,270 runs in 251 matches including 30 centuries. Babar needs to continue his magic with the bat for the next 4-5 years to surpass Kohli.

However, in recent years Babar has been phenomenal with the bat. He is the highest run-scorer in the ODI Super League 2020-23 with 1454 runs including six centuries. He also surpassed Virat Kohli to become the fastest player to score 5000 ODI runs. Notably, Babar is currently in the USA and attending some classes at Havard University. He is also accompanied by wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan.
