Indian star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is expected to make a comeback to international cricket in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland. Notably, the 29-year-old is currently undergoing rehabilitation after sitting out since last year following a back injury. On top of that, the star seamer missed the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup in 2022. It is undeniable that he is considered one of the leading fast bowlers in the world, and his return to the field will be an enormous boost to the Indian team for the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.

Ahead of the first ODI against West Indies, India skipper Rohit Sharma addressed fans about Bumrah’s comeback. The 36-year-old skipper affirmed that the leading pacer is crucial for upcoming mega tournaments. Rohit could not make sure of Bumrah’s comeback to Ireland tour as the Indian Cricket Board has not revealed the team yet.

“The amount of experience he (Bumrah) brings is very important. Right now, he’s coming from a serious injury and I’ve no idea if he’ll travel to Ireland because the team hasn’t been announced yet,” Rohit Sharma was quoted as saying.

Furthermore, the right-handed batter gave an update on Bumrah’s recovery, affirming that the management is in regular touch with the NCA and that things are positive at the moment.

“If he gets to play then it’s well and we hope he plays before the World Cup. When a player returns from a serious injury, match fitness, match feeling are some key components, which are missing. We’ll see what has been planned and everything depends on his recovery. We are in constant touch with the NCA and things look positive at the moment,” he added further.

In addition, the right-arm fast bowler is a crucial part of India’s bowling attack, and Bumrah’s inclusion in the ODI World Cup later this year will prove extremely important to India.
