Meanwhile, the Afghanistan team’s head coach, Jonathan Trott, has recently opened up about his emotions after an empathic victory over the English set-up.

Former English cricketer Jonathan Trott feels that their stellar bowling helped them win the game against England. In addition, the great cricketer feels the side has gained much confidence from this win, which will help them in their future games. However, the 42-year-old legend feels the loss of the England team will have a knock-on effect on the ODI World Cup in 2023 as well as in the future.

“We thought we had a decent total, but we had to bowl well and field well and the guys did that. So, I think it’s very pleasing and there’s a lot of confidence that will hopefully come from this when competing against the bigger nations and it’ll have a knock-on effect to all the other games, not only in this World Cup, but for the future as well,” Jonathan Trott said.

The Cape Town-born cricketer feels that this win gives them a great start for the tournament. Moreover, the former batting legend is quite confident about taking on New Zealand on October 18 and Pakistan on October 23 in Chennai. Furthermore, the former right-handed batsman feels that they don’t have a fear of any team’s, despite their poor performances in ODI World Cup history.

“Hopefully, this will be the sort of kick-start it is because I know the next match, our opposition certainly will be – I’m not saying they weren’t looking at us closely, but they might have a look at the tape again but we respect every opposition and I say this to the guys but we don’t fear anyone. Every game we are here to play, we are here to, I believe win,” he added further.
