‘It was a huge disappointment in my career’ – Jos Buttler opens up after losing ODI and T20I series vs West Indies

The England cricket team lost the T20I series against the West Indies by 2–3 on December 23 at Brain Lara Cricket Academy. Notably, Jos Buttler and Co. are having a tough time as the side had an awful edition of the ODI World Cup 2023 in the host country India. In addition, the visiting side lost the ODI series and T20I series against the West Indies.

However, England captain Jos Buttler has recently opened up about the West Indies tour, where his side suffered defeats in both series against the hosts. The top-order batter was still happy despite the loss, as some players stood up for their side in the few matches. Moreover, the wicketkeeper batter reveals that there are so many ups and downs in his life at the moment.

“Obviously some players have stood up and done really well. You want to win and I think we all wanted to win the series and it’s hard to say when you’ve lost, but I think we’ve found out some good things. There’s been lots of ups and downs throughout the year but it’s always important to keep looking forward,” Jos Buttler said being quoted by Cricbuzz.

Jos Buttler has spoken about the conditions in the West Indies, which will host the T20 World Cup in 2024. In addition, the 33-year-old cricketer is preparing himself hard with strong desires to help his side back on track after back-to-back defeats in the ODI World Cup 2023 and the West Indies tour.

“Not really, [but] I’ve had some low moments for sure. We’ve obviously had five games out here in the Caribbean and had a really good look at what conditions will be like for the World Cup only six months away. So yeah, it’s been a good series. It was a huge disappointment in my career that [ODI] World Cup just gone, but after you let the dust settle there’s huge motivation and determination to have another crack and keep going. So that desire still burns strongly,” he added further.
