Sunrisers Eastern Cape owner Kavya Maran was thrilled after their second consecutive SA20 title win on February 10. Notably, the Aiden Markram-led side successfully defended their title from the first season, beating the Durban Super Giants by 89 runs in a dominant encounter.
However, the franchise owner, Kavya Maran, was thrilled to see the team play so well this season at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town. The Sunrisers Eastern Cape franchise owner lauded her team, which had performed well from the bat and ball throughout the tournament and helped her side be the winners.
In the video which is going viral on the internet, Kavya Maran expressed her happiness and said, “It’s a second cup. Back-to-back, two in a row. So glad, so happy. Best performance by the team with the bat and the ball. They have been dominating this whole season, to finally get this through—I mean, it’s unbelievable to be winning it (title) back-to-back. So happy for the guys; everyone put up a great show. A very strong team that we played today, but happy to have the win at the end of the day.”

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Eastern Cape skipper Aiden Markram expressed his happiness after his side was able to retain the prestigious title. The 29-year-old cricketer was ecstatic after his side performed extremely well from the bat and the ball. In addition, the middle-order batter feels it was a team effort, which helped them achieve a title win during the final game.
“For the guys to rock up here tonight and play the game they did is testament to how hard they’ve been working. Competition is tough. Anyone can beat anyone. Nice for us to get some momentum in the middle phases of the tournament. Luckily we put in a good performance today. We were incredible on the field throughout the competition. Bowlers have been the shining light and carried us throughout,” Aiden Markram said during a post-win presentation.
