Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistani team, made a century versus New Zealand in today’s fourth One-Day International in Karachi. Babar needed a single to reach their 18th century in one-day international play in the 47th over. A century was reached by the right-handed batsman after 11 innings as well as 332 days. 

Babar has now amassed 30 centuries overall across the three types. The captain, who scored a century, led his side from the front. Babar has now scored 18 ODI hundreds faster than anyone else. In this format of the game, he needed 97 innings to rack up 18 centuries.

During the fourth game of the series versus New Zealand, Pakistani skipper Babar Azam became the quickest player to reach 5,000 runs in ODI cricket. Babar beat the previous record (101) held by Harshim Amla and became the first to reach the landmark in less than 100 games (98). Previously tied for second place (114), Viv Richards and Virat Kohli are now third on the list.

Speaking of the game, Pakistan put a huge total of 334 up the scorecard following New Zealand claiming the toss and elected to bowl first. With an unbeatable advantage of 3-0, the home team has already won the series. Babar, their captain, led the push towards the enormous total. The No. 1 ODI batsman in the world struck 107 runs off just 117 balls, and Agha Salman added 50 runs to his total. Pakistan finished strongly thanks to cameos from Shaheen Afridi as well as Mohammed Harris.

In the current series, Babar appears to be in fantastic form, scoring 49 then 65 in both of the previous games. Over the past few years, Babar has established himself as one of the top ODI batsmen in the world by amassing hundreds of runs and hitting hundreds of runs at will. Several important New Zealand players will miss this series because of the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The T20 series was drawn by the Black Caps, however they fell short in the ODIs.
