‘Koun select karega use?’- Fans react as Sanju Samson set to return to Indian team for West Indies series

Rajasthan Royals(RR) captain Sanju Samson is likely to make a comeback for India in the West Indies tour. The RR captain, who missed the T20Is against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, is expected to be selected for the ODI and T20I teams for the Caribbean tour. Samson is poised to have ample chances in the absence of several of the team’s senior players despite being in and out of the side and not having any continuous runs.

With the World Cup less than four months away, Samson has a golden opportunity to cement his spot in the ODI team. He has 330 runs with a strike rate of 104.76 and averages 66 in 11 ODIs. He also has two fifties to his name. India will begin the West Indies visit with a two-match Test series before beginning the One-Day series on July 27.

Sanju Samson’s Indian Premier League(IPL)

Samson is coming off a decent IPL season in which he scored 362 runs in 14 matches with a strike rate of over 150 and an average of more than 30. The West Indies T20I series gives him yet another opportunity to be a regular starter for Team India, with selectors likely to grant opportunities to younger players. Hardik Pandya is most likely to lead India in the ODI and T20Is.

Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik, among others, are anticipated to be called up for the series. Umran has played 8 ODIs so far and played 8 matches for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL this season. The team for the forthcoming West Indies tour in all forms is anticipated to be announced soon. Meanwhile, Arshdeep has played 11 ODIs and scored 330 runs, while he has played 17 T20Is and scored 301 runs.

The Indian Cricket Board is opposed to dramatic changes after their poor performance in the World Test Championship(WTC). Cheteshwar Pujara may lose his spot in the Test team following a poor performance in the WTC final against Australia, according to Cricbuzz. Pujara has only scored one hundred runs in the past 52 innings since 2020. According to the report, Yashasvi Jaiswal might replace Pujara in the team.
