The Ashes 2023
‘Kr diya jinx’- Fans reacts to Pat Cummins’ comments about David Warner Vs Stuart Broad battle ahead of Ashes 2023
Australia captain Pat Cummins supports David Warner in his fight against England’s Stuart Broad, claiming that the opening in the Ashes 2023 series will be different. Warner has had a tough spell in test cricket recently, scoring only one fifty in his past 17 innings. The 36-year-old had a nightmare when he visited England for the Ashes in 2019.
Stuart Broad had previously tormented Warner significantly in the 2019 Ashes series. Broad removed the Australian opener seven times as the Australian opener could only score 95 runs in the whole series. He had an average of 9.5.
The left-handed Australian opener is nearing the end of his Test career and has already had a hard patch. In the WTC Final, he blew a strong start in the first innings, letting his wicket away on 43. He only got three in the second. David Warner will try to score some runs in the Ashes to get back his confidence.
I don’t think there’ll be any surprises: Pat Cummins
Speaking about him, Pat Cummins said, “They’re guys we’ve played a lot and Davey’s I’m sure been thinking about Broad a lot over the last four years and if he got another chance how he is going to play against him. It didn’t go Davey’s way last time, but I think we’ll see a different Davey this time.”
England surprised everyone on their last Ashes tour of Australia by leaving both Stuart Broad and James Anderson out of the game before the first Test. It was a terrible visit for England, who were captained at the time by Joe Root, as they faced a 4-0 defeat in the Ashes.
The Aussie skipper further said, “They left out Broad and Anderson at the Gabba a couple of years ago and that caused a bit of a hoo-ha so I didn’t know which way they were going to go.”
England’s Playing XI for the first Test
Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jonathan Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Stuart Broad, Ollie Robinson, James Anderson.
