Notably, the great batter also played a tremendous knock against South Africa in their opening game of the marquee event.

Meanwhile, both sides earlier faced each other during the Asia Cup 2023. Notably, both sides were able to win their group stage matches to get into the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2023. However, the Dasun Shanaka-led side thrashed the Men in Green in their must-win encounter, which places them out of the tournament, whereas Sri Lanka suffered a shocking defeat against India in the final of the Continental Cup.

Notably, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan side had already won their opening game of the ODI World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands on October 6, which places them currently in the third spot. However, Sri Lanka suffered a crushing NRR defeat against the Proteas in their opening game of the tournament. Meanwhile, the Men in Green will be locking horns against India in their next game of the ODI World Cup 2023, set to take place on October 14 at the iconic Narendra Modi cricket stadium in Ahmedabad.
