‘Last 10 overs me hi batting karne aana’ – Fans react as Suryakumar Yadav says ODI format is ‘most challenging’ format for him ahead of Asia Cup

The Indian Cricket Board announced the Asia Cup squad on August 21, which is all set to take place on August 30 in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Notably, the roster has marked the surprise inclusion of Suryakumar Yadav despite his poor performances in 50-over formats. In addition, the great batter has played 23 ODIs while amassing 433 runs so far in his career.

Meanwhile, India stalwart Suryakumar Yadav aims to perform well in the upcoming Asia Cup. Notably, the great middle-order batter says that he tried to fulfil the roles that he got from the team. In addition, the stylish right-handed batter admitted that people are wondering why he hasn’t performed well in ODIs after excelling in T20Is.

“I would try to fulfill the role I am given by the team, no matter what role. This is a format I am looking forward to doing well in. I am doing great in T20Is. But these both are white-ball formats. Why I cannot crack the code here, people are wondering,” Suryakumar Yadav said on Star Sports.

For me, this format (ODI) is the most challenging one: Suryakumar Yadav

Moreover, the Mumbai Indians batter reveals that he is practicing hard to get his form in ODIs. Notably, the 32-year-old batter called the 50-over format the most challenging one, as he feels this is a mix of all three formats. In addition, the great batter affirms that one needs to take time in ODIs before playing the big shots. Meanwhile, the Mumbai-born batter is taking guidance from head coach Rahul Dravid, India skipper Rohit Sharma, and former skipper Virat Kohli.

“I am practicing. For me, this format is the most challenging one…you have to play a mix of all formats in this one. First you take your time, then you do some strike rotation then go for some big shots like in T20Is. I have been talking to head coach Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli,” he added further.
