‘Legends ko disrespect karne ka nateeja’- Twitter trolls Hyderabad for embarrassing 72 run defeat against Rajasthan in Indian T20 League
On Sunday, Rajasthan faced Hyderabad in the fourth match of the Indian T20 League 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bowl first. Rajasthan had a perfect start as Jos Buttler hammered the Hyderabad bowling attack, scoring 54 off 22 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. Yashasvi Jaiswal also played a valuable role at the top of the order, scoring 54 off 37 balls with nine fours.
Sanju Samson, Rajasthan’s skipper, then continued the carnage and hit 55 off 32 balls with three fours and four sixes. However, the middle overs saw Devdutt Padikkal and Riyan Parag fall quickly, allowing Hyderabad to slow down the run rate. Shimron Hetmyer’s unbeaten 22 off 16 balls ensured that Rajasthan finished their innings at 203-5 in their 20 overs. T Natarajan was Hyderabad’s best bowler, taking 2-23 in three overs.
In the second innings, Hyderabad got off to a forgettable start as Trent Boult dismissed Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi. Harry Brook, who was bought for 13.25 crore in the auction, scored 13 off 21 balls with one four before getting out to Yuzvendra Chahal. Washington Sundar was dismissed by Jason Holder, while Glenn Philips tried to take the game on but was dismissed while attempting a boundary against Ravichandran Ashwin.
Although Navdeep Saini and Abdul Samad were the impact players for Rajasthan and Hyderabad respectively, Chahal’s last ball of the third over saw him dismiss Adil Rashid and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, taking four wickets in the game. In the end, Umran Malik and Abdul Samad’s late-order fireworks were not enough as Rajasthan won the game by 72 runs.
Overall, it was an excellent performance from Rajasthan, especially from Buttler, Jaiswal, and Samson. Hyderabad struggled to keep up with the run rate and ultimately failed to chase down the target set by Rajasthan. Chahal’s impressive bowling was also crucial in Rajasthan’s victory.
