‘They were talking about cricket and laughing…..’ – Logan van Beek’s bizarre remarks after Netherlands’ back to back defeat in ODI World Cup 2023

The Netherlands Cricket Team is all set to lock horns against Australia on October 25th for their fifth clash of the ODI World Cup 2023 at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi. Notably, the side currently has only a single win out of the four games they have played so far. The Dutch team, which performed exceptionally well in the Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, defeated in-form South Africa in the ongoing marquee event.

Meanwhile, Netherland’s star cricketer, Logan van Beek, who performed exceptionally well against Sri Lanka after their side was reduced to 91/6, has opened up about the excitement of playing the ODI World Cup 2023 in his host country, India. The great all-rounder reveals that their country laughs at them for playing terrible cricket as well as creating jokes after their losses. Moreover, the right-handed batsman feels if they can get a lot more wins after South Africa, then their nation will stop cracking jokes and might support them.

“I watched a Dutch sports show this morning and they were talking about cricket and laughing about how it’s pretty similar to a nine-to-five job because of how long it takes, and they were making a few other jokes. I hope that after another couple of wins, they can almost stop joking about cricket in the Netherlands and they start talking seriously about how this is actually one of our best sports teams in the country,” Logan van Beek.

To inspire the next generation but also to change the narrative within Netherlands around: Logan van Beek

The 33-year-old cricketer has revealed his plans for the ODI World Cup 2023. The Christchurch-born cricketer wishes to reach the semi-finals of the on-going tournament to inspire the younger generation to take the cricket in the near future. Moreover, the middle-order batsman feels that the win against the in-form Proteas gives them extra confidence to perform well in the tournament.

“So that’s our aim: to inspire the next generation but also to change the narrative within Netherlands around [how] we’re actually one of the better Netherlands sporting outfits. We’ve come here to reach the semi-finals. That’s our goal. It’s been pretty clear throughout the whole preparation phase. And the South African win just gave us that extra belief,” he added further.
