‘Match jitna important nhi h….but bde players ka play Krna important h’ – Fans excited at reports of Yashasvi Jaiswal replacing Cheteshwar Pujara in Test

Rajasthan Royals(RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is expected to replace Cheteshwar Pujara in the Indian team for the West Indies tour. Jaiswal may make his international debut after a great season with RR in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, where he was the fifth-highest run-scorer with 625 runs.

For his fantastic IPL performance, he was rewarded as he was picked as a standby, during the World Test Championship final. He is now in line to replace Cheteshwar Pujara in the Indian team.

Yashasvi Jaiswal in IPL 2023 season:

This season, Jaiswal also scored the fastest fifty in IPL history off just 13 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens. Prior to the competition, he had a strong domestic season in all three forms of the game. He finished the IPL season at an average of 48.08 and a strike rate of 163.61. In first-class, he has scored 1845 runs in 26 innings, with an average of 80.21, 9 centuries, and 2 half-centuries. His strike rate is likewise around 70, and his best score is 265.

According to a source, “Every Test is important, and its result contributes to the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. We cannot experiment in a Test match.” Speaking of the final, both Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara got out by playing two loose shots in the second innings after getting settled. Hence, the former Team India coach, Ravi Shastri was not happy.

After the match, while speaking on Star Sports, he said: “Never expected that shot from Pujara…that is get-out shot and he is back in the hut. It’s not the scoreboard pressure but poor shot selection. Rohit and Pujara must be kicking themselves for the shots they played.”

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson might return to the Indian ODI and T20I teams after missing earlier this year’s home series against Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Australia. The opening Test of the West Indies tour will take place on July 12 at Windsor Park in Dominica. It will also be the start of the WTC 2023-25 cycle. Rohit Sharma will also be under pressure to find some runs and lead his team from the front.
