Mayank Agarwal deboarded from flight, rushed to ICU in Agartala

In a turn of events that has sent shockwaves through the cricketing fraternity, Indian opener Mayank Agarwal has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in Agartala, Tripura. The news has left fans and teammates extremely concerned about his health and well-being.

Details surrounding Agarwal’s hospitalization remain sketchy. Initial reports courtesy of Times Now suggest he experienced a burning sensation in his mouth and throat while travelling from Agartala to Surat. It has been learnt that this occurred immediately after he drank water from a bottle and so, it is possible that the bottle contained a poisonous substance. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and subsequently admitted to the ICU. The specific hospital and nature of his ailment have not been officially disclosed, adding to the anxiety surrounding his condition.

Big blow for Karnataka!

The 32-year-old  was in Agartala for a Ranji Trophy game in which he led his side to a comprehensive win against Tripura. His consistent performances with the bat, including two centuries and one half-century had made him a key figure in the state team’s campaign. His consistent run in the country’s elite first-class competition has put him back on the radar of the national selectors. Agarwal has represented India in 21 Tests, the last of which came back in March 2022 against Sri Lanka. He was dropped after an inconsistent run but his recent returns offered him hope. However, his sudden absence now will leave a void in Karnataka’s batting line-up but his health must take precedence.

While too much information regarding the development is not available, it is understood that he is now out of danger. The cricketing world awaits with bated breath, hoping for a more positive update on Agarwal’s health. His talent, demeanour and dedication have won him countless admirers, and his absence from the field leaves a palpable void. Fans and teammates alike stand united in their support for the star batsman, wishing him a swift and complete recovery.
