‘Maza aa jayega’ – Fans react as New York is all set to host much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan at 2024 T20 World Cup

The Apex Cricket Council is all set to host the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies as well as the United States. Notably, some reports suggest that a highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan will take place in New York in front of 34,000 spectators. Meanwhile, before that, both sides will be facing each other at the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 on October 14 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Earlier, both sides faced off twice in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023. Notably, the first match during the group stage was washed out after rain halted the play in Kandy, whereas India registered a massive 228-run win against Babar Azam and Co. in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo. Notably, the Men in Green were not able to reach the final while Rohit Sharma and Co. clinched the Asia Cup 2023 on September 17 at R. Premadasa Stadium.

India registered a terrific win against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup

Meanwhile, both sides last faced each other on October 23 in the T20 World Cup 2022, where India registered a close win in the last ball. The game was very memorable as Pakistan restricted India to just 31/4, but yet again, batting master Virat Kohli pulled it back after scoring an unbeaten 82 runs from 53 balls. Notably, Team India lost the match in the semifinal clash against England, while the Babar Azam side lost in the final against England.

“The announcement is set to come within months after the substantive talks between ICC and New York City officials fell through for the construction of a similar pop venue in Van Cortlandt Park in the borough of Bronx. The city officials were compelled to drop the plans for Bronx after some heavy resistance from some of the locals residing around the park and one of the cricket leagues that is based out of the same park,” the Cricbuzz report stated.
