‘He hasn’t lost his ability to turn the ball’ – Mickey Arthur throws weight behind struggling star Pakistan spinner to come good in ODI World Cup 2023

The Pakistan cricket team is locking horns against the Netherlands on October 6 to commence their ODI World Cup 2023 journey at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. Notably, the Men in Green have crossed the tally of 200 runs in 36 overs during the play. However, Pakistan cricket team director Mickey Arthur heaped praise on star all-rounder Shadab Khan and encouraged him to perform well in the marquee event owing to his lack of form.

Former South African cricketer Mickey Arthur called Pakistan great Shadab Khan a complete package of bowling, batting, and fielding, which makes him so exceptional. The 55-year-old cricketer heaps praise on him to boost his confidence, as he wasn’t able to perform well in the Asia Cup 2023 as well as the two ODI World Cup 2023 warm-up games.

“I wholeheartedly back Shadab. He’s a wonderful cricketer. You look at his package of bowling, batting, fielding, it’s exceptional. If we look at his bowling in isolation, he’s just short of a little confidence. He hasn’t lost his ability to turn the ball,” Mickey Arthur said.

I’m not worried about Shadab Khan because I know he’s a quality player: Mickey Arthur

Meanwhile, the Johannesburg-born cricketer further says that he isn’t worried about his form as he sets out to be one of the quality players in Pakistan’s set-up. The former batsman aims to regain his confidence to make a great impact in the ODI World Cup in 2023.

“His googly is still very, very good. He’s one performance away from getting that confidence back and making sure that he has a real big influence on this World Cup. So I’d like that to come tomorrow, but I’m not worried about Shadab because I know he’s a quality player,” he added further.

Notably, star all-rounder Shadab Khan made his 50-over debut on April 7, 2017 against the West Indies. The right-handed batter has played 62 ODIs while accumulating 725 runs. In addition, the leg spinner has 81 wickets to his name.
