WATCH: Mitchell Starc decimates Netherlands top-order as he claims hat-trick in ODI World Cup 2023 warm-up game
Australia star cricketer Mitchell Starc is getting into great rhythm ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, the left-arm pacer picked up a hattrick against the Netherlands during their first warm-up match on September 30 at the Greenfield International Cricket Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram and decimated the Netherlands top order through his lethal bowling spells.
Starc recently made his comeback during the third ODI against Rohit Sharma and Co. on September 27 in Rajkot. Notably, the star seamer sustained injuries during Ashes 2023, which pushed him to miss the South Africa tour as well as the first two ODIs against India at Mohali and Indore. Meanwhile, the 33-year-old cricketer hasn’t been able to make an impact during the India series in the third ODI. Notably, Mitchell Starc was able to pick up just one wicket of star batter KL Rahul during the play while conceding 53 runs in just 7 overs during the play at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot on September 27.
Speaking about the warm-up match, it was Australian skipper Pat Cummins who won the toss and decided to bat first. Notably, the match was reduced to 23 overs per side as the rain halted the play. After being opted to bat first, Australia posted a decent score of 166/7 in the given 23 overs. Australia’s star batter Steve Smith was sent to open the innings, where he didn’t disappoint and hammered 55 runs, which helped his side post a respectable total. Notably, Mumbai Indians star all-rounder Cameron Green also scored 34 runs to finish the inning against the Dutch team in their first warm-up game.
Australia will be taking on Pakistan on October 3 in their next warm-up game
Later, while chasing, the left-arm pacer, Mitchell Star, showed his class again and dismissed their top-order batters for ducks, which reduced them to 12/4 after his hattrick. Notably, Netherlands managed 84/6 in the 14.2 overs before rain halted the play, which pushed them to call off the match due to persistent rainfall.
Meanwhile, Pat Cummins and Co. will be taking on Pakistan on October 3 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad in their next warm-up game. Notably, Australia will be facing Team India on October 8 to commence their ODI World Cup journey.
