‘Most important player for India’ – Fans react as skipper Rohit Sharma provides update on Shreyas Iyer’s injury

The Indian cricket squad has faced a plethora of challenges owing to some of the injuries. Notably, the great batters, including the likes of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, are yet to make their comeback in the team. In addition, the star pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna have reportedly returned to the line-up and will be featuring in the upcoming three match T20I series against Ireland.

Meanwhile, the return of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul will be a big boost for the Men in Blue ahead of the Asia Cup and the World Cup. Speaking on the same subject, the Indian Cricket Board has revealed some important information about these star batters. Moreover, it says that both batters are 80% fit but have yet to recover 100%. Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board is yet to announce the squad for the Asia Cup as they need more clarity about these middle-order batters.

“We are very sure that both of them will be fit for World Cup. They may very well be fit by the time Asia Cup begins. But we won’t be rushing them. Rahul should be fine in three weeks’ time. As for Shreyas, we will know more in the next two days. We are waiting for a couple of injury updates. KL and Shreyas are 80% fit but aren’t yet match-fit. We expect an assessment report by Saturday. Once we have more clarity, the squad will be announced,” The Indian Cricket Board official said.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been rested from the ongoing five-match T20I series against West Indies. Notably, the opener has been attending the launch of his cricket academy in the USA. In addition, the star batter was asked about Iyer’s injury, to which he responded that Iyer is on track to get fit.

“Shreyas Iyer is on the track to full fitness, so fingers crossed for the World Cup,” Rohit said when asked about Iyer’s fitness.
