WATCH: Bangladesh star cricketer Mustafizur Rahman rushed to hospital after blow to head during BPL 2024 training

Bangladesh’s star cricketer Mustafizur Rahman was rushed to the hospital after sustaining a blow to the head while working out with the Comilla Victorians during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Notably, the 28-year-old cricketer was struck in the back of the head by a shot from Victorian’s captain Litton Das, who was practising his batting in the adjacent net. However, the injury triggered massive bleeding in Mustafizur’s head.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board also confirmed that the star cricketer suffered a head injury during the practice game. The BCB further reveals that they had applied compression and bandages as well to stop the bleeding; however, he was rushed to the hospital after the grave incident.

“During practice, a ball hit directly at the left parietal area (head) of Mustafizur Rahman. There was an open wound at his parietal area and we have worked with compression bandage to stop bleeding and immediately shifted him to Imperial hospital,” a BCB media release stated.

However, the left-arm pacer’s teammates were seen rushing to him in a social media video of the incident that went viral before the team’s medical staff treated him on the pitch. Notably, the great bowler was reportedly rushed to the Imperial Hospital in Chattogram for CT scans, and the players later verified that the player was safe and hadn’t suffered any internal bleeding after being hit on the head.

Meanwhile, it is true that head injuries are considered extremely serious these days, especially in the cricket fraternity. Medical professionals have given head injuries priority ever since the awful incident that led to Australian batter Phil Huges’ death a few years ago. However, the Comilla Victorians will prioritise Mustafizur’s health and safety, but the pacer is also one of their most consistent players and has been crucial in helping them achieve their present second-place finish in the BPL 2024 campaign.
