‘Another clean sweep loading’ – Fans react as New Zealand beat Pakistan by 21 runs in 2nd T20I clash

The New Zealand cricket team beat the Pakistan team by 21 runs in the second T20I game and are 2-0 up in the ongoing five matches of the T20I series. Notably, the Kiwis also registered a great win in the first T20I, and they are just one win away from clinching the series against visiting sides.

Speaking about the game here, Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first in the game. Notably, after being sent to bat first, the home team had a great start as Finn Allen gave them a great start as he went on to hammer 74 runs from 41 balls, featuring seven fours and five sixes, while Devon Conway managed to get 20 runs. In addition, Mitchell Santner and Kane Williamson also played greatly, which helped them post 194/8 in the given 20 overs.

However, during the chase, Pakistan had an awful start as Ayub and Mohammad Rizwan departed for 1 and 7 runs, respectively. Meanwhile, Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman posted half-centuries that boosted their middle order. After them, no other batters contributed much before bundling out for 173 runs.

The guys at the top had done enough for a win: Tim Southee

Meanwhile, New Zealand stand-in skipper Tim Southee expressed his happiness after getting the win. The 35-year-old cricketer heaps praise on Kane Williamson and Fin Allen, who helped the Kiwis chase down the total. In addition, the right-arm pacer revealed his tactics, which helped him win the clash against Shaheen Afridi led Pakistan.

“A good surface, Finn Allen and Kane set it up at the top. Milne was outstanding, Sears is a young guy showing a lot of character. And Ish shouldn’t be understated, going for 20 in his first over but coming back strong with those wickets to win us the game. He’s always a livewire in the field. The wickets kept flowing in our innings towards the end, but the guys at the top had done enough for a win,” Tim Southee said after the win.
