No Kul-Cha, Sanju Samson finds place – Matthew Hayden names his India squad for ODI World Cup 2023

The Indian Cricket Board announced the Asia Cup squad on August 21. Notably, the squad has had some notable omissions as well as surprising inclusions. In addition, some reports suggest that India’s World Cup squad will be almost identical to the Asia Cup squad. Notably, former India cricketers Sourav Ganguly and Sanjay Bangar have already come up with their picks for the India World Cup squad. Following this, former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden also made his choice.

Notably, the star cricketer has picked Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shreyas Iyer as the batters. In addition, the former batter included three wicketkeepers, namely KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Sanju Samson, in his squad. Moreover, the former top-order batters Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel as all-rounders. Furthermore, the 51-year-old cricketer has gone with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Shardul Thakur, and Mohammad Siraj as the pacers.

In addition, the former left-handed batter excluded wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav and leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Moreover, there is no place for either Mumbai Indians star Tilak Varma or Prasidh Krishna in his squad.

It must be tough for the selectors because they’ve also got another one: Matthew Hayden

Meanwhile, the stylish batter also commented on Yuzvendra Chahal’s absence from the Asia Cup squad. Notably, the cricket commentator called Chahal a superb player while saying it might be difficult for the selectors to leave him.

“There’re some big omissions. Chahal in particular, that leg-spinner is such a superb player and (it) must be tough for the selectors because they’ve also got another one in Kuldeep (Yadav) he’s a superb player. So, they’ve gone for that as an option.

India’s 15-member squad for World Cup 2023 picked by Matthew Hayden:

Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan and Axar Patel.
