We knew if we lost this game then the Ashes were gone: Ben Stokes
Meanwhile, after an emphatic victory, star all-rounder Ben Stokes expressed his happiness during the post-match presentation. Notably, the southpaw was over the moon as he had managed to get a victory. In addition, the 32-year-old cricketer understands the game situation and what tactics they needed to win the match, when they needed 70 runs for the last wicket stand. Moreover, the Christchurch-born cricketer had an amazing feeling as he enabled his great win despite bundling out for just 67 runs in the first innings.
“I’m obviously over the moon that we’ve managed to stay in the series. We knew if we lost this game then the Ashes were gone. When a number 11 comes out needing 70 to win, I knew what I had to do in terms of the game situation. The only time I started to get a little bit nervous or panicking was when we got into single figures. To be sat here, especially after getting bowled out for 67, to still be in with a chance of getting the urn back is an amazing feeling,” Ben Stokes said after winning the third Test against the visitors.
