Overseas batters CSK can sign to replace Devon Conway in IPL 2024: Report
The loss of New Zealand batsman Devon Conway for most of the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will be devastating for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Post the thumb injury, Conway is scheduled to get surgery and will probably be sidelined for at least eight weeks. Therefore, he is probably going to miss over half of the IPL series.
Conway, CSK’s top run scorer during the previous IPL season was a key contributor to the Men in Yellow’s record-tying fifth title. With a strike rate of 139.7 and an average of 51.69, the left-hander scored 673 runs in 16 games. Moreover, the four overseas players can replace Conway in the CSK squad: Ryan Rickelton, Fin Allen, Rassie van der Dussen, and Phil Salt. As per reports, CSK has kept some players in the loop and might announce the in a day or two.
All the players who were mentioned above are some of the best T20 players in the world and will be looking for an opportunity in the IPL to showcase their skills. Moreover, Phil Salt was part of the IPL in the previous year. However, he was released from the squad. Later, no team had shown so much interest in him and he went unsold. He’ll be looking forward to getting an opportunity to help him to prove his worth in the IPL 2024.
Indian Premier League (IPL) to start on March 22
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to start on March 22. The first match of the IPL is between the defending champs, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Both teams have a huge fan base. After 2019, this is the first time these two teams are facing each other in the first match of the tournament.
The previous time CSK vs RCB happened, CSK won the first match. However, they went on to lose the finals against Mumbai Indians. Even in 2019, CSK were the defending champs but failed to defend their title. Hopefully, this year, they’ll be able to win the finals as it might be MSD’s last IPL season.
