Report: Pakistan Cricket Board set to appoint foreign coaches for T20 World Cup 2024

According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board is looking to appoint foreign coaches and new staff members for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is slated to take place on June 1 in the West Indies and the USA. Notably, Pakistan had an awful campaign for the ODI World Cup 2023 in host country India, as the side failed to enter the playoffs after winning just four matches out of nine of the league stage games.

However, some sources reveal that the new chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, is looking for new options for appointing foreign coaches for the T20 World Cup 2024. In addition, the sources also revealed that there are very low chances that a great coach will join their team owing to the way other coaches have been removed from the team.

“The new Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi is keen to look at the available coaching options for Pakistan and is more inclined to appoint foreign coaches and support staff. Naqvi has already asked chief selector, Wahab Riaz to speak to some of the available options and shortlist candidates as he is aware foreign coaches might be reluctant to join the Pakistan team because of the way Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn and Andrew Puttick were removed from their positions after the World Cup and their contracts cut short,” a well-informed source in the board said.

Babar privately feels betrayed by Shaheen as he and the fast bowler: Sources

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board is set to undergo many changes after the end of March. There are signs that Shaheen Afridi may get removed as the Pakistan skipper owing to his poor captaincy in the ongoing PSL 2024 for Lahore Qalandars, where his side is still struggling to get their first win from the three games they have played so far.

“Shaheen’s performance as captain in the Pakistan Super League is under scrutiny no doubt about that. Babar privately feels betrayed by Shaheen as he and the fast bowler, Rizwan, Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf have always been very close in the team,” the source added further.
