‘Par bhai Rohit to out of form tha na’ – Fans react as Rohit Sharma gets back to top 10 Test rankings

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made a triumphant return to the top 10 of the men’s Test Batting rankings by the Apex Cricket Council. The 36-year-old jumped to the 10th position following his century against West Indies in the first Test at Windsor Park in Dominica. With this, Rohit also becomes the highest-ranked Indian batter in the longest format of the game ahead of the wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant (11th position) and the ex-skipper Virat Kohli (14th position).

Rohit played a knock of 103 runs off 221 balls and set the stage for a big win to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Meanwhile, opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal also made his appearance in the Test rankings after his magnificent in his debut Test match in Dominica. The 21-year-old marked his arrival in international cricket with a 171-run knock of 387 balls that helped India to register an innings victory.

India will look to clinch the Test series in Port of Spain

Talking about the match, India took a 1-0 lead in a two-match series by defeating West Indies by innings and 141 runs. Batting first, the hosts were bowled out for just 150 runs in the first innings. Ravichandran Ashwin was the star of the Indian bowling lineup as he scalped 5 wickets by conceding 60 runs.

In reply, India declared their innings on 421 runs for the loss of 5 wickets as Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal laid the foundation for a match winnings total with a 229-run opening stand. Apart from that, Virat Kohli got out after scoring 76 runs off 182 balls and Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 37 off 82 balls as India took a lead of 171 runs in the first innings.

Coming to bat in the second innings, Ashwin once again turned out to be the nightmare for the Caribbean batters as he picked up 7 wickets by conceding 71 runs as the Windies were bowled out for just 130 runs and lost the Test match on Day 3. The second and final Test match of the series will start on 20th July at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
