‘There’s no bad cricketers on the list……’ – Phil Salt opens up over his snub in IPL 2024 auction

England star cricketer Phil Salt is taking the headlines after smashing back-to-back centuries in the T20I series against the West Indies. Notably, the West Indies were 2-0 in the five matches of the T20I series, but England bounced back magnificently owing to batting brilliance from Phil Salt. However, despite his great form, Phil Salt was not picked up for the IPL 2024 auction.

The star cricketer has recently opened up after he went unsold in the IPL 2024 auction, which took place on December 19 in Dubai. In addition, the star cricketer revealed that it was a bit confusing for him, and he believes that he will get picked up after having a decent season with the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023. Moreover, the wicketkeeper batter reveals that there are few players who are going to have a great Christmas owing to their place in the IPL.

“It was a confusing morning. I expected to be picked up, having gone there last year and done well and after the year that I’ve had, but these things happen. It’s part of the lottery of an auction, it happens in draft processes as well. There’s a few lads in our dressing room, who are going to have a very good Christmas and I’m over the moon for them,” Phil Salt said in the moments after he’d scored a second consecutive T20I hundred for England against the West Indies.

The 27-year-old cricketer accepted that the IPL needs more quality players, and he somehow lacked that ability. Meanwhile, the opening batter expressed happiness after guiding England to win the third and fourth T20Is against the West Indies.

“There’s no bad cricketers on the list at the IPL. It’s one of those things. I’m playing good cricket, I’m doing what I came out here to do. More importantly than that, the boys have really pulled together and shown what a good team we are. The West Indies are a very good side that we’re playing against so to win back-to-back games,” he added further.
