Prithvi Shaw replies to Jay Shah after his breath taking triple hundred in Ranji Trophy

India’s young batting sensation, Prithvi Shaw scored a magnificent triple century in Ranji Trophy on Wednesday. Playing for Mumbai, he helped his side notch up 687/4 in the first innings against Assam.

Shaw’s quickfire 379 runs off 383 balls is now the second-highest score in Ranji Trophy history, behind BB Nimbalkar’s unbeaten 443 runs which he achieved playing for Maharashtra against Saurashtra in 1948. Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane also contributed with the bat with his stellar knock of 191 off 302 balls.

Lately, Shaw has been doing pretty well with the bat to make a comeback into the Indian team. Since playing the last game for Team India in July 2021, he has notched up plenty of runs in domestic cricket. On Wednesday, Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah took to Twitter to acknowledge his explosive triple ton and congratulated him for hitting the second-highest Ranji Trophy score of all time.

“Another entry into the record books! What an extraordinary inning @PrithviShaw! Congratulations on hitting the second-highest Ranji Trophy score of all time. A talent with immense potential. Super proud!,” posted Shah.

Shaw thanked the Indian Cricket Board secretary for his appreciation and replied,

“Thank you so much @JayShah sir. Your words of encouragement means a lot. Will keep working hard.”

Prithvi Shaw unhappy with his non-selection in the Indian Team

As per reports, the 23-year-old was unhappy with Indian Cricket Board after being ignored in the squads for the India tour of Bangladesh in December 2022 and the ongoing bilateral series against Sri Lanka. He even uploaded several stories on his Instagram account expressing his displeasure over him being constantly ignored by the Indian Cricket Board.

With 16 points, Mumbai are currently at the no.2 spot on the points table for Group B, just behind Saurashtra(26 points). In five matches, Shaw has scored 539 runs at an average of 67.37 for his team and is also the fourth-highest scorer of the tournament so far.

Shaw has played five Tests, six ODIs and T20I for India so far and is eagerly waiting for his next opportunity.
