‘He thoroughly deserves this’ – Fans react as Rachin Ravindra named Men’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year for 2023

New Zealand star cricketer Rachin Ravindra secured the Apex Cricket Council Men’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2023 award on January 24, beating competitors like India’s star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and South African star bowler Gerald Coetzee. Notably, the 24-year-old showcased his talent with 911 runs and 23 wickets in ODIs last year, including three centuries in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023, and guided his side to reach the semi-finals in the host country of India.

Moreover, the star all-rounder didn’t only lead the run chart in the ODI World Cup 2023 with 578 runs; he also contributed five wickets, propelling the team to the semi-finals. However, the Black Caps suffered a loss against India during the semi-final game. Meanwhile, the left-handed batter is set to be part of New Zealand for the T20 World Cup 2024, as he was given the chance in T20Is against a recently concluded T20I series against Pakistan.

Meanwhile, left-handed batter Yashasvi Jaiswal had a notable debut year in international cricket in 2023. While excelling in both T20Is and Tests, the southpaw missed the ODI World Cup. Moreover, Jaiswal played a very crucial role in T20Is for his national team, and he will get the chance to play in the XI for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024 owing to his magnificent batting and wonderful records. It seems that he will compete above Shubman Gill in the next marquee event.

Whenever you get recognized for something it is always special: Rachin Ravindra

Meanwhile, New Zealand star Rachin Ravindra expressed his happiness after winning the award. The southpaw reveals that it is a very special feeling for him, and he is extremely proud of playing greatly since last year, which bags him the prestige title.

“It’s obviously a very special feeling. Whenever you get recognized by the ICC for something it is always special. Reflecting back it has been a pretty whirlwind last year and having the opportunity to play so much cricket in so many different environments has been very special,” Rachin Ravindra said on Apex Cricket Council.
