Rahul Dravid optimistic for Shubham Gill’s availability against Australia in ODI WC 2023
India’s opening batter Shubman Gill was reported to have tested for dengue and might not play the ODI WC game against Australia. This kind of disease suggests that he is set to not play India’s first World Cup game. If Gill doesn’t play, the home side might go, Ishan Kishan, given the team’s thought process in the last 10 to 11 months.
Meanwhile, India head coach, Rahul Dravid is optimistic about Gill’s chances of playing the team’s opening game. The former said that Gill has been feeling better and has been monitored every day. The India vs Australia game will be played on Sunday, October 8 in Chennai.
“He’s certainly feeling better today,” Dravid said during a press conference.
“The medical team is monitoring on daily basis. We have 36 hours, we’ll see what decision they take. He’s certainly feeling better today.”
“Medical team hasn’t ruled him out as yet.
“We’ll keep monitoring him on a day to day basis. We’ll see how he feels day after tomorrow,” Dravid said.
If Gill doesn’t play, which is highly likely to happen due to illness, he might miss a few others as well.
