‘I have no connection to…’ – Ratan Tata slams reports about announcing reward to Rashid Khan after Afghanistan’s win over Pakistan

The great Indian industrialist and former chairman of Tata Group Ratan Tata clarified on Monday that he has not announced any price cash to Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan after their 8-wicket win over Pakistan in the ODI World Cup 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium at Chepauk in Chennai.

Notably, Gujarat Titans star Rashid Khan celebrated their side victory against Babar Azam and Co. with the Indian flag on his chest, for which he got a fine of 55 lakh rupees from the Apex Cricket Council for this act. However, a plethora of reports say that Indian philanthropist Ratan Tata has announced a Rs 10 crore cash prize for great cricketer Rashid Khan after he was fined Rs 55 lakh.

Meanwhile, the 85-year-old legend took to Twitter and clarified the whole matter. Ratan Tata clarified that he has not made any suggestions for any cricketing body, nor has he ever announced any reward to any player. In addition, the former Tata chairman reveals that he has no connection with cricket. Moreover, Ratan Tata further urged the people and cricket fans not to believe in such baseless and fake news until and unless he announced the news from his official accounts.

Please do not believe WhatsApp forwards and videos of such nature: Ratan Tata

“I have made no suggestions to the ICC or any cricket faculty about any cricket member regarding a fine or reward to any players. I have no connection to cricket whatsoever. Please do not believe WhatsApp forwards and videos of such nature unless they come from my official platforms,” Ratan Tata wrote on Twitter.

However, the Pakistan team is currently in the sixth spot in the points table of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, the Men in Green had a great start to their campaign as they defeated the Netherlands and Sri Lanka in their first two games; however, they suffered four back-to-back losses against host India, five-time world champions Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa. Despite their losses, they are in the race for the semi-final spot.
