Ravichandran Ashwin predicts this England player to dominate Indian T20 League mini-auction
The Indian T20 League mini-auction is almost upon us, with a scheduled date of December 23rd. The wheels of speculation are churning out reports-after-reports as many are intrigued about which players the teams will go for.
The recently concluded 20-20 World Cup will play a huge role in franchises deciding which players to go for. Players who did well in Australia would certainly command a lot of buyers in the mini-auction. One player who would be on top of everyone’s list is the England all-rounder Ben Stokes who was immense in England’s win at the mega event.
India veteran spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin believes that the 20-20 World Cup winner has suggested that the Lucknow franchise would be leading his aficionados. “Lucknow franchise will definitely go for Ben Stokes. Only if they don’t get him, they will go for other players,” said Ashwin on his Youtube page.
Stokes who was criticised for his low strike rate at the World Cup shut his critics down as he came up with a match-winning 52 off 49 in the final against Pakistan. His assured batting after the majority of England’s batting lineup was back into the dugout has won a huge number of fans among which will be the Indian T20 League franchises as well.
Nicholas Pooran’s resale value will be really high- R Ashwin
Ashwin also predicted that the MS Dhoni-led Chennai side could go for West Indies wicketkeeper batter Nicholas Pooran.
“I feel as a second keeper, an explosive left-hander, I know he didn’t play well last year but I feel he will go for a good price, Nicholas Pooran. His resale value will be really high.”
He also feels that Chennai will go for San Curran, Cameron Green, and Ben Stokes as well as their marquee signing in the Indian T20 League mini-auction.
“Even CSK might also go for him because CSK will go for Sam Curran from the Marquee list. They won’t get him. They will go all-out on Ben Stokes as well. They won’t get him as well. They will also go for Cameron Green,” said Ashwin.
